The Best of the Web anthology will be the first comprehensive print anthology to represent the vast array of contemporary online literature on an annual basis, bringing the world of web journals to a greater audience. Nathan Leslie, Fiction Editor for The Pedestal Magazine, Editor-in-Chief of The Potomac, and the author of five short story collections, will serve as the series editor. In addition, each year a guest editor will be selected by Nathan and Dzanc's publishers, Dan Wickett and Steve Gillis. As the world of fiction and poetry becomes ever more diverse, I'm pleased to have such books as these to serve as treasure chests and guide books, and look forward to seeing what the editors discover out there.
There's another "best" print anthology coming out soon, though I don't think it's an annual project.
ReplyDeleteFrom http://www.snowvigate.com (publisher Doug Martin) "As a result of a generous grant from Indiana State University, Snow*Vigate Press will be publishing a printed anthology of the best on-line writing which has appeared over the past ten years. Hopefully the anthology will be released in August 2007.
The book will include poetry broken into lines, prose poetry, flash fiction, long fictional pieces, creative non-fiction, and 10 minute plays . . .."
That sounds like a fun and valuable book -- thanks for letting us know!
